The Duncan Ranch is a 5th generation family ranch dedicated to providing high-quality beef using responsible ranching practices.
Our family has been living and working on the ranch for more than 80 years, but it was during the last 20 years that we began to notice a difference in consumers. People started becoming more health conscious and wanted to know more about the food they were eating. So, we began wondering how we could keep more of our cattle at home on the range and sell them directly to local customers, rather than shipping them away to feedlots. We didn't agree that ranching and feedlot operations were causing all of the problems that some claimed, but we did recognize that there are more natural ways to raise beef, and that some of those more traditional practices might have added benefits. So, we started doing some research.
It turns out there are a lot of different views on the best and most beneficial ranching practices, and many of them are very polar to each other. The more research we did the more we realized there are advantages and disadvantages associated with each of them. So, we decided to avoid the extremes and choose a more balanced approach to raising cattle. We blend the best practices of modern ranching with the tried and true methods of more traditional and natural ranching techniques.
Since that time our ranching operation has passed to another generation and our country has learned a lot more about raising beef. We aren't full-time ranchers like my dad, and we have a lot fewer cows and a lot more to learn than he did, but we still believe in a balanced approach to raising safe, healthy, and tasty beef, and we now sell 100% of our beef to local customers. We know that not everyone is going to agree with our approach to raising cattle, but we invite you to read about our beef and our ranching operations and decide for yourself if we are attaining the balanced approach we strive for. We might even tempt you to purchase some so that you can see for yourself the effect it has on the quality and taste.
